We are Jon Ander Miró and Ibon Barba, two childhood friends raised in Algorta who left our town in search of job opportunities in different parts of Spain and Europe. Jon Ander, the restaurant’s chef, worked a year at the Arzak before starting his tour of the Netherlands, Barcelona and Valencia, where he learned everything he knows today about rice.
After several years, we returned to our hometown, hoping to bring the best Mediterranean flavours and blend them with our culinary tradition. Once in Algorta, we were joined by Dorilda Vila-Boas to finally launch our culinary project Arraun Jatetxea, which opened its doors for the first time on 5 October 2021.
Arraun Jatetxea is a Basque cuisine restaurant that offers a modern twist on the classic chargrilled seafood and meats.
Our signature dishes include 30-day dry-aged mature beef T-bone steak, grilled octopus with puréed garlic cod stew, and European lobster rice. Our exquisite wine selection perfectly complements these dishes to delight the palate.
